Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
