Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official commented the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
